Where Wilderness Meets Timeless Elegance

Deep in the African wilderness, Olare Mara Kempinski, managed by the prestigious Geneva-based Kempinski Hotels, offers an exclusive retreat that blends luxury with cultural authenticity. Nearly half of the staff are Maasai locals, proudly wearing traditional attire and sharing their heritage, enriching each guest’s stay with a true sense of place. Inspired by the golden age of safari, the camp effortlessly merges vintage charm with contemporary sophistication, showcasing regional art, handwoven textiles, and curated artifacts that evoke the spirit of an Edwardian adventure. The camp features 12 expansive tents, each perched on raised wooden platforms with private balconies that frame breathtaking views of the open savannah or winding river. Despite its remote setting, this elegant hideaway is only a short trip from Nairobi, delivering both seclusion and accessibility.

Step inside one of Olare Mara Kempinski’s lavish and spacious tents, where 80 square meters (861 square feet) of refined comfort await. Each tent is a sanctuary, blending classic safari aesthetics with modern indulgence- complete with king-sized beds, plush seating areas, and sweeping private decks. High-end touches abound, from oversized bathtubs and rain showers to elegant desks and inviting lounges, ensuring a stay that is both immersive and indulgent. The crown jewel of the camp, the Honeymoon Suite, spans over 100 square meters (1076 square feet) and boasts a private plunge pool with stunning wilderness views—perfect for couples seeking an intimate, unforgettable escape. Guests can also take advantage of a seamless laundry service, adding an extra layer of convenience to their experience.

Designed to blur the boundaries between indoors and nature, each tent is a masterpiece of craftsmanship, featuring teak decks, sunlit terraces, and airy lounges that invite the sights and sounds of the wild inside. Culinary experiences are just as extraordinary, with guests choosing between private in-tent dining or unforgettable bush meals under a canopy of stars. Every detail at Olare Mara Kempinski is carefully curated to make every moment as extraordinary as the breathtaking landscape that surrounds it.

Where Luxury Meets the Wild

Olare Mara Kempinski offers front-row seats to some of East Africa’s most thrilling wildlife sighting encounters. Tucked away in the exclusive Olare Motorogi Conservancy- where visitor numbers are limited- the camp provides an intimate and uninterrupted connection with nature. Guests venture out in specially designed 4×4 safari vehicles, accompanied by expert guides who unveil the secrets of the land and all the animals that call it home. The conservancy boasts an unrivalled density of big cats, making it a prime destination for spotting lions, leopards, and cheetahs, alongside elephants, cape buffalo, and other remarkable wild animals roaming the vast Maasai Mara plains. Whether it’s watching hippos wallow in the river or elephants graze under the African sun, every safari is a spectacle of nature’s raw beauty.

Beyond the excitement of game drives, Olare Mara Kempinski curates a range of immersive experiences to enhance the adventure. Guests can set out on guided walking safaris for an up-close encounter with the bush, or, for a breathtaking perspective, take to the skies in a hot air balloon (available at an additional charge) and drift over the golden savannah. Sundowners in the heart of the conservancy transform twilight into a magical affair, while candlelit bush dinners under a canopy of stars create unforgettable moments. Cultural visits to nearby Maasai villages offer a deeper understanding of local traditions, while indulgent spa treatments provide the perfect way to unwind after a day of exploration.

At Olare Mara Kempinski, every moment is an invitation to immerse in the wild, blending adventure and tranquillity in a setting of unparalleled luxury—making it a top choice for travellers seeking an extraordinary African safari experience.

Tripadvisor comments Olare Mara Kempinski

"The Olare Mara Kempinski stay in the Masai Mara was a trip of a lifetime. We went with our three boys (ages 9-13). It's an extremely up close experience with the wildlife on this private conservatory, both on the game drives and at the hotel. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. Dominic, the Hotel Manager, made sure we were always comfortable and safe. The food was delicious at every mealtime (hats off to the Chefs!) and there were lovely tea and coffee and snacks in the afternoon. All of the waiters, especially Hezron (one of our main waiters), were super friendly and made us feel at home. Our ranger from the moment we arrived to the moment we departed, Rafael, was outstanding. He was extremely attentive, experienced and informed. He made sure we saw everything and was incredible with the kids - he was funny, loving and gave us a sense of security with his oneness with nature and the animals. He definitely made our trip memorable beyond expectations and we will never forget him. The Kempinski Olare Mara does an outstanding job at making this an extraordinary experience and would highly recommend it!"
"Lovely hotel and setting. There is a river along side it and we saw hippopotami in it. Such amazing animals. Also on the property we saw vervet monkeys, hammerkop and its huge nest, and at night saw a bush baby ❤️ The room was well kitted out and so spacious and comfortable. Staff so hospitable and attentive. We even had a sunset cocktail hour looking over the plains. Food delicious and varied- one night dinner out under the stars. The sky so close and stars so very bright. Our safari driver Rafael was so good. Kept us safe and we saw incredible animals. If you are a light sleeper, bring some earplugs as sometimes the hippos are noisy at night"
